President Anastasiades in Tbilisi for a two-day official visit

President Nicos Anastasiades is paying Georgia a two-day official visit, the first ever by a President of the Republic of Cyprus to the country. During the visit, he will meet with his counterpart, the Prime Minister and the Chairperson of Parliament.

According to an announcement by the Presidency, the President, accompanied by his spouse and the members of the Cypriot delegation, arrived last night in Tbilisi where he was welcomed by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia.
 
The Cypriot delegation comprises Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Prodromos Prodromos, Ambassador of the Republic to Georgia, based in Athens, Kyriakos Kenevezos and other officials.

Today the President will be officially welcomed by the President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili at the Presidential Palace followed by a tete-a-tete meeting and consultations between the delegations of the two countries. Bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, EU-Georgia relations are on the agenda of the talks. The two sides are expected to sign bilateral agreements and then the two Presidents will make statements to the press.

The President of the Republic will later visit Heroes Square, where he will lay a wreath at the Monument of Fallen Soldiers.

Anastasiades will then have a meeting with Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze, who will later host an official lunch in his honor.

In the afternoon, the President of the Republic will have a meeting with Georgian Parliament Chairperson Irakli Kobakhidze and in the evening he will attend an official dinner in his honor by the President of Georgia.
