Job vacancies increase by 19.3%

The number of job vacancies in the 2nd quarter of 2019 reached 6,141, and increased by 993 (19.3%) compared to the same quarter of the previous year, where the number was 5,148. Compared to the 1st quarter of 2019 the number of job vacancies decreased by 621 (-9.2%) the Statistical Service of the Republic of Cyprus announced on Friday.
 
The job vacancy rate in the 2nd quarter of 2019 was 1.8%, while the job vacancy rate in the previous quarter and the 2nd quarter of 2018 was 2% and 1.4% respectively. The largest job vacancy rates in the 2nd quarter of 2019 were observed in the Sectors Administrative and Support Service Activities (3.7%), Accommodation and Food Service Activities (3.3%) and Arts, Entertainment and Recreation (3.3%).
