More job vacancies in Q3

Total vacant posts increased in the third quarter in Cyprus, according to data released by Eurostat.

The figures reflect the gradual improvement observed in the labor market.

According to Eurostat data, the job vacancy rate in Cyprus reached 0.8% in the third quarter of 2015 versus 0.4% in the third quarter of 2014.

Despite the increase, the rate is the seventh lowest in the EU after Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Poland, Portugal and Latvia.

Most EU Member States recorded an increase of their job vacancy rate.

A decrease was recorded in the vacancy rate in Greece, Portugal and Germany.

In Greece the vacancy rate fell to 0.7% in the third quarter of 2015 from 0.9% in the third quarter of 2014.

The biggest increase was recorded in the Czech Republic (+0.9%).

In the EU, the job vacancy rate increased to 1.7% from 1.6% last year, while in the eurozone it remained stable at 1.6%.
