Democratic Rally (DISY) President, Averof Neophytou sees that the Cyprus economy will grow by 1.5-2%, in light of new data released by Cystat today regarding growth in the second quarter of 2015.

“The results for the economic growth for the second quarter confirm the good performance of the economy”, he said in a statement.

“We can now talk confidently about positive growth in 2015, contradicting the initial estimates of both the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission for a recession of 0.5% for 2015”.

“My own assessment is that if there are no external negative factors, our economy will move into positive growth of 1.5% -2% for 2015”, he added.

If this assessment is confirmed, the dynamic that our economy shows will be converted in 2016 to an improvement of the conditions in the real economy, with positive implications to households and businesses.

Prudence and discipline by the Cypriot state as a whole, with the citizens being the driving force, began to bear fruit.

“I express my belief that with these results of the economy, but also with the tax and urban incentives recently adopted by the government and the parliament, we look forward to attracting significant new investments in our country”, he concluded.
