Thirteen new cases of coronavirus on Monday

A total of 13 new confirmed cases of coronavirus were announced on Monday by the Ministry of Health, bringing the total to 46. Twenty-five are case contacts.

According to the Ministry, the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics announced 13 more confirmed cases on Monday, of which 11 are case contacts. Ten are health professionals from Paphos General hospital and one is a patient. All had contact with the patient who was being treated at the Paphos General hospital. Two more cases had returned from the UK and Greece and had symptoms of the virus.

The Unit for Surveillance and Control of Communicable Diseases has already started looking into the cases’ contacts and will take further samples for more specialised tests.

It added that in coordination with the State Health Services Organisations the situation at Paphos hospital will be re-evaluated for further measures.
