Retail trade up in first two months

The value and volume of retail trade was up in Cyprus on an annual basis during the first two months of this year, provisional estimates released by the Cyprus Statistical Service, on Thursday show.

According to CyStat’s provisional estimates the turnover value index of retail trade for February 2020 increased by 10.3% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 106.2 units (base 2015=100).

For the period January-February 2020 the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 7.4% compared to the same period of 2019.

At the same time, CyStat’s provisional estimates show that the turnover volume index of retail trade for February 2020 increased by 9.8% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 108.9 units (base 2015=100).

For the period January-February 2020 the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 7.0% compared to the same period of 2019.
