Two COVID-19 cases announced on Thursday

Cyprus authorities announced on Thurday two COVID-19 cases from a total of 1,159 tests. The total number in the Republic has reached 1,010 cases. The one person has travelled abroad recently while the second was detected from tests run at the airports.

The Health Ministry said in an announcement that  the first case was confirmed from a total of 220 samples tested on private initiative, adding that the person who tested positive has recently travelled abroad.

From 361 samples on the framework of passengers` or repatriates` testing program , one person tested positive.

56 tests were completed in the framework of contact tracing of already confirmed cases and no one tested positive. Moreover, no cases were confirmed from 231 tests done in the framework of employees` testing program who went back to work in the 2nd and 3rd phase of relaxation of measures, or from 48 sampes from the program run by the Justice Ministry for all people working at courts.

141 tests were done after referrals from personal doctors and special groups screening through the public health centres  and no case was detected.
