HICP fell in March

The electricity and water prices “burn” the consumers’ pockets, according to CYSTAT’s data on harmonized inflation in March.

According to the figures, the rate of inflation for March 2010 fell to 2,3% compared to 2,8% in February 2010 and 0,9% in March 2009.

The sector of housing, water supply, electricity and liquid gas recorded a significant increase of 15.1%.

Transportation surged 6.1%, education increased by 4.9% and the sector of health rose 2.9%.

On the other hand, the sector of food and non-alcoholic drinks fell 2.1%.

For the period January-March 2010, the HICP recorded an increase of 2,5% compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
