Cyprus police booked 169 citizens and one premise for violating measures

Cyprus police handed out fines to 169 citizens and one establishment during the last 24 hours for violating the measures against the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told CNA that a total of 11,806 checks were carried out from 0600 local time on Sunday to 0600 local time on Monday.

He noted that citizens were reported for leaving their houses without sending an sms in order to obtain permission to do so or for not wearing a face mask, while a kiosk was booked because it used tables and chairs for servings its clients.

In Nicosia a total of 3,830 checks were done and 31 citizens were reported, in Limassol the police carried out 2,276 checks and handed out fines to 70 citizens and in Larnaca a total of 1,184 checks were carried out and 19 citizens were fined. In Paphos the police carried out 1,372 checks and reported 16 citizens, in Famagusta there were 1,458 checks and 23 citizens and a premise were fined while in Morphou the police carried out 1,244 checks and booked two citizens.

Moreover the Traffic Department carried out 419 checks and fined eight citizens.

The Port and Marine Police carried out 23 checks, with no one being reported.
