Increase of CPI for March 2002

The Consumer Price Index for March 2002, rose by 0,67 units or 0,62%, reaching 109,25 units compared to 108,58 units in February 2002. According to the statistical service CYSTAT, this was mainly attributed to increases on the prices of clothing and footwear due to the end of the winter sale season. A drop was noted on prices of certain fruit and vegetables.

The period January-March 2002, the CPI showed an increase of 2,58% compared to the corresponding period in 2001, with the growth rate of the index for March 2002 compared to March of last year being 2,36%.
