Police hand out 216 fines for violating measures against COVID-19

Cyprus police reported 215 individuals and one premises' owner, during 13,868 checks carried out island-wide in the last 24 hours, for breaching measures in place to contain the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) that in Nicosia they carried out 3,613 checks and booked 64 people, while in Limassol 80 individuals and one premises' owner were reported after carrying out 1,436 checks.

The police handed out fines to 26 people in Larnaca, where 1,436 checks were done. In Pafos 10 individuals were reported for violating the measures, after 1,409 checks were carried out.  A total of 1,639 checks were done in Famagusta and 22 citizens were booked.

The police carried out 865 checks in Morphou and reported three people.

The Traffic Department carried out 1,146 checks and handed out fines to 10 citizens. Moreover, the Port and Marine Police carried out 54 checks without reporting anyone and the Emergency Respond Unit 5 checks with no reports.
