Police fine 203 individuals and one shop owner for violating Covid protective measures

Cyprus Police have reported 203 individuals and one shop owner for violating protective measures in place to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

A police spokesperson told CNA that in the last 24 hours ending at 06:00 local time, the Police carried out a total of 11,037 checks throughout the island.

In Nicosia the Police conducted 2,538 checks reporting 27 individuals, in Limassol 100 individuals were reported and one shop owner following 2,726 checks, in Larnaca 1,561 checks were carried out with 21 individuals receiving a fine, in Pafos 1,224 were carried out with 19 individuals reported, in Famagusta 1,327 checks were carried out and 7 citizens were fined, while in Morphou the Police carried out 1,039 checks reporting 12 individuals.

The spokesperson added the Traffic Department carried out 505 checks reporting 17 individuals, while the Police Rapid Response Unit and the Marine and Port Police carried out 80 and 37 checks respectively reporting no one for violations.
