Police book nearly 140 citizens for violating COVID-19 measures

Cyprus police reported 139 citizens and five establishment owners during the last 24 hours for violating the measures aiming to curb the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told CNA that a total of 11,363 checks were carried out from 6.00am on Wednesday until 6.00am on Thursday.

In Nicosia the police carried out 2,247 checks and booked 36 people, while in Limassol 3,153 checks were conducted with 53 citizens and one establishment owner reported.

In Larnaca the police carried out 1,667 checks and handed out fines to 15 citizens, while in Paphos 1,190 checks were conducted and 19 citizens and four establishment owners were reported.

In Famagusta the police carried out 1,395 checks and booked 11 citizens, while in Morphou they conducted 703 checks and reported two citizens.

The Traffic Department carried out 924 checks and fined three citizens and the Port and Marine police carried out 78 checks without booking anyone.
