Cyprus police hand out 112 fines for violations of measures agaist COVID-19

Cyprus police handed out 112 fines during the last 24 hours for violations of measures aiming to contain the spread of COVID-19.

A police spokesperson told CNA that the police booked 111 citizens and one establishment owner, and more specifically the owner of a gas station because he and his employees did not have any rapid test results. A total of 8,365 controls were carried out from Thursday 0600 local time until Friday 0600.

In Nicosia the police carried out 1,815 checks and reported 41 citizens. In Limassol 1,593 checks were done and 33 citizens were booked. In Larnaca the police carried out 1,460 checks and booked 13 citizens.

In Paphos the police carried out 875 checks and reported 14 citizens and the gas station owner. In Famagusta they conducted 1,210 checks and booked 6 citizens. In Morphou 715 checks were carried out without anyone being reported.

The Traffic Department carried out 687 checks and reported 4 checks. The Port and Marine Police conducted 10 checks without reporting anyone.
