As further COVID-19 restrictions ease in Cyprus, the Cabinet has decided on Wednesday to allow fans attend all kinds of sports, provided they fill up to 50% of the stadiums.

The decision was taken after a proposal by Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou and will come into effect from 1st July.

The Health Ministry said, in a statement, that in the framework of gradually reopening the economy and social activity, entrance to stadiums is allowed provided individuals have completed the vaccination regime with either the single dose of Johnson & Johnson or the two-dose vaccines of Moderna, AstraZeneca or Pfizer/BioNTech.

Entry is also allowed to those who have a negative PCR or rapid test, with testing performed within 24 hours prior to the start of the game and to those who have contracted COVID-19 in the last six months and can present a document of recovery from COVID-19, provided by the Health Ministry.

The decision will be regularly evaluated to gradually increase the number of fans allowed in the stadiums, provided the epidemiological situation allows so.

The Cabinet also decided to increase the number of persons to ten per table at restaurants.
