Booster COVID-19 shots for 86+ at Walk-In centres from 22 September

Cyprus' Ministry of Health is going ahead with the vaccination of people 86 years of age and over with the third booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Walk-In Centres from Wednesday, 22 September, it announced on Tuesday.

The mRNA (Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna), will be available, irrespective of the vaccine administered in the original vaccination, the Ministry says in a press release.

The decision was taken pending adjustment of the Vaccination Portal to allow beneficiaries to arrange appointments for the third dose based on age criteria.

The Walk-In centres will be open for the third dose from Monday to Thursday between 0800-1300 and will operate at:
Nicosia - State Fair B and Latsia Health Centre
Limassol – Spiros Kyprianou B and Linopetra Health Centre
Larnaca – Port B
Paphos – Paphos General hospital
Famagusta – Famagusta General hospital

The ministry notes that it has secured sufficient quantities of the vaccines for all who want to be vaccinated with the third dose. Therefore, it advises citizens to come forward when the centres will be open to avoid congestion.

It also reminds citizens to come forward with the necessary identification documents (ID, passport or alien registration number, etc).

Those eligible for the third dose are citizens who have completed the second dose of the vaccination by 31st March 2021 and fall under the age criteria announced accordingly.  Citizens will also have the opportunity to schedule their third dose in early October. Announcements will be made nearer to the date.
