President Christodoulides had a meeting with Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Wednesday, as part of his bilateral contacts with the heads of the institutions of the European Union. Christodoulides is in Brussels ahead of the European Council summit which will take place on Thursday and Friday.
The meeting was held in Von der Leyen’s office, after the end of the weekly meeting of the College of Commissioners. This was the first meeting between the two Presidents after the Cypriot Presidential elections.
Christodoulides and Von der Leyen were due to discuss the Cypriot President’s ideas and proposals regarding the ways in which the EU can support efforts to restart negotiations on a solution for the Cyprus Problem.
