BOC: Increase in 3-monthly Results - Dividends 2000 of 8cents

During the Annual General Meeting of the Bank of Cyprus Ltd. which took place on the 25 April 2001, Chairman of the Group announced that the results of the first three months of 2001 will be published on the 17 May 2001 together with the Financial Report in accordance with international accounting model 39, as required by the ASE.

Based on preliminary results which are not expected to differ from final results for the three-months, pre-tax profits for the period which ended on the 31 March 2001 showed an increase of 32% compared to the same period in 2000. After-tax profits showed an increase of 40%. For the whole of 2001, it is expected that after-tax profits will continue to show an increase compared to the year 2000.

During the AGM, the payment of final dividends for 2000 at 8 cents per share was decided, with shares trading ex-dividend as of 30 April 2001. Shares will be trading cum-dividend up to the 27 April 2001. Final dividends 2000 will be paid to beneficiaries on the 14 May 2001.
