Woolworth: Increased Profits for 2000

The company F.W. Woolworth & Co. (Cyprus) Ltd. published its preliminary consolidated results for the year 2000 yesterday. Turnover of the company rose to CYP 61.506.000 million, an increase of 21.3% with operational profits reaching CYP 3.6 million, an increase of 34.6%. Pre-tax profits were CYP 6.232.000 million with after-tax profits of CYP 5.720.000 million. Profits from investments of the company were CYP 4.3 million. Earnings per share were 7,6 cents

The Board of the company decided to propose a dividend of 10% which equals CYP 1.928.000 on an average number of 74.996.000 shares as adjusted following the split of the shares and the issuance of bonus shares in 2000.

Based on the price of shares as at 18 March 2001, the P/E ratio of the company is 5,2.
