Increased interest in showrooms

The automotive market performed better for the sixth consecutive month in June as buyers’ interest increased both for new and used cars.

According to figures released today by Eurostat, total registrations of saloon vehicles amounted to 1.942 in June 2015.

Compared to June last year, when 1.608 vehicles were registered, a growth of 20.8% is recorded.

The saloon registrations are recording an increase since the beginning of the year.

Based on the same data, registrations of new saloon cars rose by 18.9% in June reaching 880 from 740 in June 2014.

A significant increase was recorded in the market of used vehicles.

Used vehicle registrations increased by 22.4% in June reaching 1.062 against 868 in the corresponding month of 2014.

In the first six months of 2015, saloon car registrations rose by 16.7% overall, reaching 10.432 compared with 8.936 in the corresponding period of 2014.

Registrations of new saloon cars increased by 12% during January - June period, while used car registration went up by 21.1%.

The official data of the Statistical Service refer to all passenger saloon cars including private, taxi, rental, learner and invalid cars.
