Motor vehicle sales jump by 24.3%

The sale of motor vehicles rose by an annual 24.3% in Cyprus during the first two months of 2018, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) show.

The new increase is solely due to passenger car sales which rose by 24%.

According to Cystat, total vehicle sales for the period of January – February 2018 amounted to 7,702 compared with 6,123 in the respective period of 2017.

Passenger car sales in the first two months of 2018 reached 6,506 marking an increase of 24% compared with 5,247 in the January – February period last year. Passenger car sales amounted to 84.5% of total vehicle sales.

According to Cystat, in January total vehicle sales amounted to 4,123, of which 3,481 were passenger cars, marking an increase of 20% year on year, whereas total vehicle sales in February reached 3,579, of which 3,025 passenger cars, marking an increase of 29% compared with February last year.
