Registration of motor vehicles down 7.6% in June

Τotal registrations of motor vehicles numbered 3,279 in June 2021, recording a decrease of 7.6% compared to June 2020. Passenger saloon cars registered a fall of 4.6% to 2,482.

According to a press release by the Statistical Service of Cyprus, the total registrations of motor vehicles increased by 6.3% to 18,631 in January-June 2021, from 17.525 in January-June 2020.

Passenger saloon cars increased to 14,267 from 13,508 in January-June 2020, recording a rise of 5.6%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 5,782 or 40.5% were new and 8,485 or 59.5% were used cars.

Coaches and buses registered in January-June 2021 decreased to 34, from 135 in the same period of 2020.

Goods conveyance vehicles recorded a decrease of 8.4% to 2,173 in January-June 2021, compared to 2,371 in January-June 2020. In particular, light goods vehicles decreased by 14.9% to 1,616, while heavy goods vehicles increased by 1.5% to 269, road tractors (units of trailers) by 39.5% to 113 and rental vehicles by 40,0% to 175.

Mopeds < 50cc recorded an increase of 75.6% to 151 in January-June 2021, compared to 86 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Motorbikes > 50cc increased to 1,783 in January-June 2021, compared to 1,252 in January-June 2020, recording an increase of 42.4%.
