Registration of saloοn cars down 1.9% in February

Registrations of passenger saloon cars in February 2023 fell by 1.9% to 2,287, from 2,331 in February 2022, according to data released Wednesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.

In February 2023, the total registrations of motor vehicles numbered 2,795, recording a decrease of 0.5% compared to 2,808 in February 2022.

However, the total registrations of motor vehicles increased by 8.9% to 5,923 in January-February 2023, from 5,441 in January-February 2022. Passenger saloon cars increased to 4,780 from 4,478 in January-February 2022, recording a rise of 6.7%. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 2,278 or 47.7% were new and 2,502 or 52.3% were used cars. Rental cars in particular recorded a fall of 2.4% to 536.

Motor coaches and buses registered in January-February 2023 increased to 15, from 9 in the same period of 2022.

Goods conveyance vehicles increased by 13.2% to 610 in January-February 2023, compared to 539 in January-February 2022. In particular, light goods vehicles increased by 12.7% to 470, heavy goods vehicles by 50.9% to 86, road tractors (units of trailers) by 200,0% to 21, while rental vehicles decreased by 43.1% to 33.                                                                                                            

Mopeds < 50cc registered in January-February 2023 decreased to 21 compared to 36 in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Motorcycles > 50cc increased by 26.7% to 399 in January-February 2023, compared to 315 in January-February 2022.
