Saloon sales continue to increase

Car registrations continued to increase in October albeit at a slower rate than previous months.

The rising trend in the automotive market is maintained for ten consecutive months, as consumers’ interest turned on new vehicles.

According to figures released today by Cystat, total registrations of saloon vehicles increased by 4.7% as they reached 1.744 in October 2015 from 1.666 in October last year.

Saloon registrations are recording an increase since the beginning of the year.

Based on the same data, registrations of new saloon cars rose by 20.1% in October reaching 849 from 707 in October 2014.

Used vehicle registrations dropped by 6.7% in October falling at 895 against 959 in the corresponding month of 2014.

In the period of January - October 2015, saloon car registrations rose by 16.8% overall, reaching 17.814 compared with 15.254 in the corresponding period of 2014. New cars reached 8.270 rising by 17.4% and used cars reached 8.270 corresponding to an increase of 16.3%

The official data of the Statistical Service refer to all passenger saloon cars including private, taxi, rental, learner and invalid cars.

In the first ten months of the year, total car registrations increased by 12.6% as they reached 21.450 compared 19.050 in the corresponding period last year.
