Cyprus and India enhance their environmental cooperation

Cyprus and India signed Monday a bilateral agreement on the environment, in the framework of the official visit of India’s President to Cyprus.
 
The signing of the agreement opens the way for exchange of expertise and information, the joint implementation of projects and the promotion of research work between Cyprus and India.
 
An announcement cissued today says that the signing of the agreement took place at the Presidential Palace, in the presence of the President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades and the President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind.
 
The agreement provides the general framework for a mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries with regard to sustainable development and in tackling the challenges related to climate change, it is noted.
 
Moreover, the two countries agreed to cooperate in high priority areas such as the conservation of biodiversity, water and air pollution, waste management, bio-security and the management of harmful chemicals.
