President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades, will visit Israel on November 9 at the invitation of President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, where he will be awarded the country's highest honour.
According to an official press release, the honorary distinction will be awarded to President Anastasiades for his important contribution to the strategic cooperation between Israel and the Republic of Cyprus.
On Monday evening, Pope Francis awarded the Cypriot President the Necklace of the Order of Knights of Pope Pius IX, which is the highest honor of the Holy See.
This was the 15th honorary award that President Anastasiades has received from leaders or heads of state and government.
During his term in office, he was also honoured, among others, by four Patriarchates and four educational institutions which granted him an honorary doctorate.
