Cyprus - UAE signed MoU to strengthen government services

Cyprus and UAE signed an MoU with a view to expand their synergies, strengthen the government services of two countries and promote innovation in the public sector.

An announcement sent to the press Wednesday by Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy says that through the cooperation, the exchange of government experience and the utilization of best international practices in terms of planning, development and management of government services, the two countries are set to form an operational model for the public administration from which the citizens will benefit.

In statements to the press in the UAE, the Cyprus Deputy Minister Kyriacos Kokkinos said that the time has come to give new impetus and substance to bilateral relations, adding that this close cooperation can lead to the common vision which is the development of a model driven by innovation and technological development.

The MoU was signed in the framework of the World Government Forum, taking place in Dubai, which brings together experts, think-tanks and decision-makers from around the world to exchange views and ideas to develop tools, policies and models for the future governments.

Kokkinos participated in a panel discussion on the importance of the human element in the development and exploitation of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on the dimensions of ethics and the protection of human rights.
