FM briefs EU counterparts on Turkey's provocations

Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides travels to Brussels on Sunday afternoon to attend EU`s Foreign Affairs Council where he will brief his counterparts on Turkey`s provocations in Cyprus` exclusive economic zone.

Ankara issued recently a navigational telex, announcing its intention to start drilling off Cyprus until September 3. The Turkish drill ship “Fatih”, accompanied by three service ships, is located almost 40 nautical miles west of the Akamas peninsula and 83 nautical miles from the Turkish coast. The area falls within the EEZ and continental shelf of the Republic of Cyprus.

A press release issued by the Foreign Ministry says that Christodoulides and his EU partners will exchange views on issues related the situation on Venezuela , Iran`s nuclear program , developments in Libya and Sahel.

The FM will also participate in the Eastern Partnership (EaP) ministerial meeting which will bring together EU foreign ministers and their counterparts from the six Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine).
