President: Relations between Cyprus and Georgia are excellent

President of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, who is paying the first official visit of a Cypriot President to Georgia, held a meeting today with President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili. 

According to a press release by the Presidency of Cyprus, the two Presidents praised the excellent relations between the two countries. 

They held a tete a tete meeting, followed by a meeting in the presence of their respective delegations.

A Memorandum of Cooperation was also signed between the Ministries of Agriculture and Enviroment of the two countries, as well as Cooperation Agreements between the two governments on Exchange and Protection of Classified Information and on Health.

The Memorandum and the Agreements were signed on behalf of Cyprus by Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Christodoulides.

Meanwhile, the President held a meeting with Prime Minister of Georgia Mamuka Bakhtadze who expressed his country`s graditute for the support of Cyprus to his country and noted the excellent relations the two countries enjoy on political level as well as among their peoples.

He also expressed his govenment`s wish to further deepen bilateral relations especially in the economic field.

President Anastasiades also praised the excellent relations and said that the willingness for enhancing bilateral cooperation is mutual.

He also briefed him on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus issue and discussed with him issues related to the EU / Georgia relations.

The Cypriot President expressed his country`s support towards Georgia`s efforts to intensify its relations with the EU.

Later on, Bakhtadze hosted a luncheon to President Anastasiades and his entourage.

In the afternoon, the Cyprus President will hold a meeting with the President of the Parliament of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze, while tonight he will attend the official dinner hosted by the President of Georgia.
