Trade deficit down by €200 mn

The trade deficit in Cyprus in the first three months of 2015 fell by €200 million, according to Eurostat data released today.

According to the figures, the deficit for the period January - March 2015 was at €600 mn compared with a deficit of €800 mn in the corresponding period of 2014.

Exports in Cyprus rose by 54% to €500 mn while imports remained stable at €1.1 bn.

In Greece, the deficit in the trade balance fell to €4.7 billion from a deficit of €5.5 billion.
The euro area recorded a surplus of €52.6 bn, compared to €30.7 bn in January-March 2014.
In the EU28 a surplus of €3.8 bn was recorded compared with a deficit of €5.8 bn in January-March 2014.
