Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Giorgos Lillikas, has denied allegations on behalf of the T/C regime that a large number of Greek Cypriot visitors stay overnight in the Turkish occupied areas, stressing that according to a police press release, the total overnight stays in Northern Cyprus are only very few.

Mr. Lillikas has urged media, hotel owners and tour operators to avoid exaggerations, while the House Commerce Committee and the representatives of PASIXE and STEK have condemned overnight stays.

Meanwhile, the Cyprus Tourist Organization (CTO) is currently preparing a document, registering all problems that may arise during an overnight stay in Northern Cyprus.

Overall, 212,811 G/C have crossed the designated check points so far and 62,325 T/C have visited the free areas. A total of 39.381 cars have crossed into the occupied north.
