04/06/2003 12:59
Almost one month a half after the partial lifting of restrictions in the free movement across Cyprus, the G/C and T/C crossings have dropped significantly.

On Tuesday, 6,972 persons have crossed either side of the island, 4,260 of which were T/C and 2,712 G/C. According to police figures, the T/C crossings on Monday (3,765) exceeded the corresponding G/C (2,084).

It is noted that 395 G/C and 2,456 T/C have visited either side of the island from the designated checkpoint of Ledra Palace, 324 G/C and 1,148 T/C from Pergamos, 488 G/C and 133 T/C from Strovilia and 1,505 G/C and 523 T/C from the checkpoint of Ayios Dometios.

A Police announcement states that 12 T/C were not allowed to pass into the free areas of the Republic due to their failure to prove that they were T/C.

Strovilia under occupation

In their effort to present that the area of Strovilia is under Turkish occupation, the Turks have disconnected the electricity and water supply to five local G/C families. The T/C regime has urged the inhabitants to submit their applications for the reconnecting of electricity and water supply to the occupied territories.
