UN Secretary General`s Special Advisor on Cyprus Espen Barth Eiden is set to have separate meetings on Thursday with the leaders of the island`s two community leaders, UN spokesman Aleem Siddique told CNA today.

Asked by CNA about Eide`s plans, with regard to his efforts to move the peace process forward, Siddique said "Eide will meet with both leaders tomorrow to review today`s discussions and agree on the next steps forward."

Earlier yesterday, Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot leader met for about five hours, in the framework of the ongoing UN-facilitated negotiations, to reunite Cyprus, divided since the 1974 Turkish invasion.

Speaking after his meeting with Akinci, President Anastasiades said the Greek Cypriot side submitted a concrete, creative proposal that could really create the preconditions for a Cyprus settlement, however there was disagreement on it.

He noted that Eide has undertaken to hold consultations with the two sides during the next days to see if there are prospects for a substantive and creative meeting that will lead to the desired result.
