Five G/C insurance companies to insure T/C cars

Transport Minister urges caution

Transport Minister, Kikis Kazamias said that five Cyprus insurance companies have expressed their interest to insure the T/C cars that will conditionally cross into the free areas from Saturday.

The Cyprus authorities must, therefore, examine: First: whether the T/C car is stolen (to ensure that it does not belong to a Greek Cypriot citizen or any other legal owner until 1974) and, second: whether the T/C car is included in the relevant list, prepared by the Cyprus Police in cooperation with Interpol. The Turkish Cypriots must find an insurance representative and pay for the legal premium on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, Mr. Kazamias has urged the Greek Cypriots to beware of the imminent dangers and frauds that occur in the occupied areas, referring to the recent car accident involving a 19-year-old Greek Cypriot driver.

It is noted that the relevant bill will be set under approval on Thursday and will be published in the Official Gazette on Friday.
