27/01/2004 16:41
Cyprus President, Tassos Papadopoulos said on Tuesday that Turkey’s political will for a Cyprus settlement needs to be proven in practice and stressed that neither dilemmas nor demands were put before the G/C side or the Greek side.

As the CNA reports, invited to comment on the statements of the State Department that following the encouraging meeting between the Turkish PM, Tayyip Erdogan and the UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan, the other parties should demonstrate political will, the President said that Cyprus is well aware of the fact that the US aims to assist Turkey’s accession in the EU and improve its image in the international political scene.

Mr. Papadopoulos flew to Strasburg today to address the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
