ASE opening: Big rise

Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 1.31 percent, standing at 1,578.17 points at 10:45 a.m., and turnover at 6.1 million euros.

Individual sector indices were moving upward nearly across the board, with the only losses in Travel & Recreation, down 0.31 percent.

The biggest were gains in Food & Beverage, up 3.25 percent; Health, up 2.66 percent; Banks, up 2.53 percent; and Raw Materials, up 2.27 percent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 1.56 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.93 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.72 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 56 were up, 10 were down, and 17 were unchanged.
