07/12/2010 15:12
With the slogan Blood Donation Day: A Day of Life, PwC organised the annual blood donation day for the support of the Nicosia General Hospital blood bank on 7 December 2010 at the Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos offices of the organisation.

This year the blood donation in Nicosia was organised the same day as the annual Unicef Christmas bazaar, celebrating in this way the values of giving and volunteerism that characterise the organisation.

Mr Michael Lakatamitis, Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Health who attended the blood donation in Nicosia thanked the blood units and PwC for its voluntary action which as he mentioned «is the ultimate form of social action and contribution that societies should seek and promote. Every volunteer who selflessly offers his time into activities that benefit people in need, reminds us that societies which prosper are based on social solidarity and selfless voluntary action for the benefit our fellow people and the society in general ».

Mr Evgenios Evgeniou, Human Capital Leader of PwC noted that«For PwC, professionalism goes hand in hand with social responsibility. We are sensitive to the needs of the society in which we live and work, offering our support where is needed through voluntary participation and contribution. Our people are ambassadors of this common vision and culture. A total of 116 PwC members offered 365 hours in volunteerism during 2010»

PwC would like to thank all 90 blood donors and colleagues from offices in all towns who every year support this initiative with their participation. Also the blood units of the General Hospitals of Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos for their assistance and invaluable services and wish them strength and success in their noble cause.
