Deloitte Cyprus announces two new partners

Deloitte Cyprus announces the appointment of two new partners, with effect from 1 June 2021, further streangthening its leadership team for the continuous growth of the firm. Michael Aris Michaelides has been promoted to Partner in Tax & Legal Services, and Calliopi Nicolaidou recently joined Hadjianastassiou, Ioannides LLC (member of the Deloitte Legal network).

Michael A. Michaelides

Michaelides has over 12 years of experience with Deloitte, specialising in local and international tax. He offers tax advisory and tax compliance services to a diverse portfolio of clients, which includes individuals, companies and multinational groups operating in Cyprus.

He started his career in Deloitte UK in London, and in 2011 he joined Deloitte Cyprus. He holds a B.Sc. (First Class) in Mathematics with Economics from University College London (UCL) and an M.Phil in Finance from the University of Cambridge. He is a chartered accountant (ICAEW) and has received the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) with distinction. He is a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants (ICPAC) and an appointed member of the Tax Strategy and Planning Committee of ICPAC.

Calliopi Nicolaidou

Nicolaidou will be focusing on the Financial Services industry. She has over 15 years of experience in public and private mergers and acquisitions, local and international financing transactions, as well as advising on banking regulatory matters.

Before joining Deloitte Legal, Nicolaidou served as the Chief Legal Officer of Hellenic Bank for six years. She began her career in London, where she worked for the international law firm Allen & Overy LLP and then moved to Aspect Capital Limited, an investment management company. She holds an LLB in Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Commenting on the appointment of the two new partners, Pieris Markou, CEO of Deloitte Cyprus, mentions: “For a large organisation such as ours, it takes a strong leadership team to achieve our ambitious purpose, and I am confident that both of our new partners will contribute significantly to our goals”.  

Referring to Michaelides, Markou explains that the admission to partnership is a recognition of his contribution to the firm’s business priorities, his leadership skills, his role in the development of Deloitte’s tax services and the creation of strong relationships with clients.

Regarding Nicolaidou, he states that with her experience and breadth of know-how, she will play an instrumental role in the firm’s expansion of legal services to the Financial Services sector, through Hadjianastassiou, Ioannides LLC.
