The Economic Summer Programme (Cyprus), a pioneering educational initiative for the next generation of economists, has opened its doors for the fourth year. It has become a reference event gathering students from Cyprus, the United Kingdom, Poland and Russia.

Titled “Global Finance: Contemporary Settings”, the Summer Programme is developed and headed by Dr. Kirill Zimarin, CEO of RCB Bank, under the auspices of the First Lady of the Republic of Cyprus, Mrs. Andri Anastasiades.

On the 23rd of July, Mrs. Anastasiades welcomed the students at the Presidential Palace. In her address, the First Lady wished the students a prosperous academic journey ahead and stay focused on their dreams. She also thanked Dr. Zimarin for his initiative and continuous support to youth projects. “The more knowledge we have the greater our opportunities. Such initiatives, like RCB’s Economic School, provide students with the opportunities to increase their academic standing”, said Mrs. Anastasiades.

Noting that education is the best possible investment, Dr. Zimarin said that the Economic Summer Programme is building on the success of the previous years, offering again a broad range of highly interactive courses, taught by renowned academics. “I am proud for this pioneering project, as it brings talented students from different countries to the world of finance, allowing them to acquire new knowledge, share experience and develop intercultural ties. It is also an opportunity to promote Cyprus as an attractive destination with rich history and great economic potential”.

The Economic Summer Programme (Cyprus) identifies new trends and challenges of the financial system, introduces artificial intelligence, Fintech and other topics of immense interest for young people. It brings together over 40 students from the London School of Economics, University of Warsaw, University of Cyprus, University of Nicosia, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Graduate School of Management of the St. Petersburg State University. The head of the curriculum is Sir Christopher Pissarides, Regus Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, Nobel Laureate in Economic Sciences.

The Programme is organized by FTERA foundation with the support of RCB Bank.
