Epic’s shareholder Monaco Telecom the first provider globally to offer full 5G coverage in Monaco

Epic’s shareholder, Monaco Telecom, announced on July 9^th the achievement of full 5G coverage in the Principality of Monaco. A world’s first.

Monaco Telecom became the first provider globally to provide full 5G coverage, showing its commitment to bring Monaco into the digital age.

5G in Monaco is expected to offer new opportunities in a number of areas to make life easier.

• Smart bus shelters will offer public Wi-Fi via the 5G network. They will also soon feature new services supported by environmental sensors.
• Monaco’s Fire and Emergency Service plans to use 5G to better protect the population
   
• The self-driving vehicle which has already been introduced in Monaco will incorporate 5G technology into future versions.
• For companies, the 5G roll-out also opens up functionalities that will help to generate new markets. For example, Teale, a start-up working with the Principality’s start-up programme MonacoTech and which specialises in intelligent building management, has demonstrated the contribution 5G can make to remote control of facilities in order to improve energy efficiency.

Epic, with the outstanding know-how and support of Monaco Telecom in relation to the 5G technology, can play a leading role to the growth of an equal network in Cyprus. Taking advantage of the know-how of Monaco Telecom, epic is in position to carry a seamless 5G roll-out and establish itself as one of the biggest players in the 5G network in Cyprus.

In this context, it materialises an investment of over 40 million euros, creating a super-fast network with 10 times more capacity than in the past, within 1 1/2 year instead of four as initially planned.
