Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol obtains the Authorised Economic Operator Certification

EUROGATE Container Terminal Limassol Ltd announces that it has obtained from the Cyprus Customs & Excise Department the Authorised Economic Operator – Full (AEOF) Certification at the highest level of the Institution “Customs Simplifications, Security & Protection”.

This is the highest accreditation that can be achieved through the EU programme for Authorised Economic Operators (AEO). The institution of the Authorized Economic Operatorhas entered into force under the provisions of the Union Customs Code for all Member States of the European Union and it aims to facilitate healthy trade and enhance the security of international supply chain.

After four years of excellent operation of the Limassol container terminal, EUROGATE secured this leading certification, further enhancing its strategic role in Limassol port and the Cyprus economy, with safe and reliable procedures for customs control, which meet the highest standards.

The AEO Certification is granted to economic operators that keep to specific strict criteria when it comes to complying with customs law, the reliability of their logistical and IT systems, the capacity and soundness of their internal operating procedures, their ability to meet their financial obligations, and the safety and protection measures that have been established and implemented both internally and with regards to their business partners.

Authorised Economic Operators are recognised as reliable and safe business partners in the international supply chain and enjoy a series of benefits. These include, inter alia, swifter customs transactions, international recognition through Mutual Recognition Agreements between the European Union and third countries, and enhanced recognition of their international credibility, through the right to use the AEO trademarked logo.
