EY Cyprus met with the Cyprus Seeds Teams and offered advice and one-to-one mentoring

EY Cyprus offered free advice on project management to the seven teams of the first cycle of Cyprus Seeds EY Cyprus has been supporting Cyprus Seeds with funding since the inception of the Program, in 2018. In addition to funding, EY hosted and supported most of the events organized by Cyprus Seeds to-date.

The most recent event, which took place on July 11th, was a Panel Discussion on the topic “What makes or breaks a technology start-up” and was attended by more than 70 people, including researches, alumni of the Harvard, MIT, Oxford and Cambridge Clubs in Cyprus, as well as representatives from the Government and a large number of EY partners and staff.

EY Cyprus, a member of the global network of EY, is not only one of the Cyprus Seeds’ initial donors but also dedicated supporter of its activities. Following their single unified purpose of building a better working world, EY will be offering pro-bono advice to all seven selected teams of Cyprus Seeds during the first funding period of the Program, July 2019- July 2020. EY experts already went through the deliverables and tasks of each Team in order to create a detailed project plan based on EY’s project management methodology. This will be a useful tool both by the Teams as well asfor the Executive Team of Cyprus Seeds to monitor progress of work.

On July 24th, 2019, members of EY’s advisory Team met with the Cyprus Seeds Teams and discussed ways in which EY can support their efforts. In the coming months, EY Cyprus will play an important role in the delivery of a series of entrepreneurial training workshops to be offered by Cyprus Seeds to the research Teams participating in its Program.

Ms. Georgiadou, Managing Director of Cyprus Seeds, thanked EY for sharing the same vision as Cyprus Seeds and for helping its efforts to leverage the high-quality research work in the Cypriot universities and research institutions, by offering not only funding, but also free consultancy and mentoring to the selected teams, to accelerate their projects from the lab to the market.

Cyprus Seeds is a non-profit initiative to support the commercialization of innovative academic research in Cypriot universities and research institutions, through seed funding in the form of grants, one-to-one mentoring combined with entrepreneurial training and networking outside Cyprus. Recently, Cyprus Seeds announced the seven teams who have been selected following a rigorous evaluation procedure. Four (4) teams are from the Healthcare sector, two (2) teams are from the Energy & Water sector and one (1) team is from Devices & Material sector. Three (3) projects are from the University of Cyprus, two (2) are from the Cyprus University of Technology and two (2) from the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics.
