EY Cyprus is proud to present the findings of the second edition of the EY Attractiveness Survey Cyprus 2022, during its flagship event, Cyprus Attractiveness Forum: Investment Realized 2022 on 25 October 2022 at Parklane Hotel, Limassol.

The Forum brings together high-profile speakers, government officials, local industry experts and top-level executives, to analyse the findings of the Cyprus Attractiveness Survey 2022 and discuss the future of Foreign Direct Investment in Cyprus, sharing EY insights, thoughts and recommendations.

The survey is part of the broader series of EY’s Attractiveness Surveys, which has a legacy of more than 20 years and is conducted in countries and regions across the globe, including, this year, 13 European countries. Launched in Cyprus for the first time in 2020, the Survey gave a good picture of the international investment community’s perception of Cyprus’s attractiveness as an investment destination, while also identifying the country’s comparative advantages and areas of potential improvement. The survey’s findings also established a benchmark against which to measure subsequent developments.

Two years on, against a background of mounting geopolitical tensions, record inflation, weakened global cooperation and the advancing threat of climate change, the survey’s second edition analyses major trends in global and European FDI investments, and outlines current investors’ sentiments, and progress over the last two years.

The survey identifies Cyprus as a potential destination for investors, attracting FDI in a wide range of sectors, including real estate, hospitality, energy, technology, health and financial services.

Along with the presentation of the survey’s findings, the Forum is scheduled to include keynote addresses and panel discussions on key themes, such as geopolitical developments, innovation and digital transformation, skills and talent and sustainable economic growth. The day event will be attended by government leaders, institutional investors, business executives, investment advisors and other stakeholders. It will be followed by a Networking Cocktail Reception.

Ronald Attard, EY Cyprus Country Managing Partner, said: “We are thrilled to be organising the Cyprus Attractiveness Forum, which we aim to establish as EY’s flagship event that gathers top leaders from across sectors to exchange ideas and identify meaningful actions, that will provide the opportunity to the country’s business community and government officials to assess Cyprus’s progress in attracting FDI, analyse major trends and developments, share insights and discuss recommendations to improve our global standing. At a time of sweeping changes and heightened uncertainty, foreign direct investment is of paramount importance for the recovery and transformation of our economy. The Forum is a unique opportunity to focus on current challenges and agree on a policy agenda that will place Cyprus at the forefront of investors’ interest.”

Stelios Demetriou, Partner and Head of Strategy and Transactions Services, EY Cyprus, said: “When presenting the first EY Attractiveness Survey Cyprus, two years ago, we promised to return with regular updates, to monitor changes in perceptions of the investment community, identify new trends and areas of improvement in a rapidly changing environment. We could not have foreseen at the time the sweeping changes brought about by the war in Ukraine and repercussions both at geopolitical and economic leval. In these uncertain times, more than ever before, we need to study carefully the global FDI landscape, understand what drives investment decisions today and adapt our policies to further improve Cyprus’ attractiveness. The Cyprus Attractiveness Forum will provide such an opportunity by bringing together government officials, private sector executives and experts to discuss the findings of our survey, share insights and discuss meaningful proposals for the future.”

The event is being held in collaboration with the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
