The agreement is valid for five years after the launch of the City of Dreams Mediterranean

A five-year contract was signed between ICR Cyprus, the joint venture of Melco and The Cyprus Phassouri (Zakaki) Limited, member of the CNS Group, and Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd, the largest Cypriot owned petroleum company, for the provision of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) at the integrated casino-resort City of Dreams Mediterranean (ICR).

According to the agreement, Petrolina will provide and install the required equipment and provide LPG for five years, following the opening of the ICR in 2021. The LPG installation will support the boiler units and the kitchens of the ICR.

Being responsible and reliable to its guests, colleagues and stakeholders has always been central to Melco’s business philosophy. To further enhance its commitment to sustainable development across its resorts around the world, Melco has launched a new Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility strategy called “Above & Beyond”, which focuses on achieving carbon-neutrality in its resorts with reduction targets across a range of emission sources, among other goals. City of Dreams Mediterranean will also follow Melco’s strategy, and will be built according to the highest sustainability standards.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Craig Ballantyne, Property President of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos (C2) and Mr. Dinos Lefkaritis, Chief Executive Director (CEO) of Petrolina.

In statements, Mr. Ballantyne underlined the importance of protecting the environment by using modern and efficient energy systems and noted that: “City of Dreams Mediterranean will not only attract thousands of tourists in Cyprus, but will have a multiplier effect on the island’s economy by creating new job positions and supporting local businesses with the creation of long-lasting partnerships. Petrolina is a reliable partner in our operations and this agreement will play an important role in the achievement of our sustainable development goals”.

Mr. Lefkaritis expressed his appreciation to the environmental policy of ICR Cyprus, which is fully aligned with Petrolina’s CSR philosophy and highlighted that: “Petrolina has been an integral part of the growth of the economy of Cyprus for 60 years. City of Dreams Mediterranean will definitely have a positive effect on the economy and we are proud to be part of the achievement of its sustainability goals”.
