Limassol primary school pupils were invited to create artworks on the environment, climate change and recycling

Throughout the month of May, Melco Cyprus, operator of Cyprus Casinos (C2) and the upcoming integrated resort (IR) City of Dreams Mediterranean, organised a voluntary environmental awareness art competition for Limassol primary school pupils. Aside from raising awareness on environmental sustainability among pupils of the fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, the competition provided young contestants with the valuable opportunity to creatively express themselves. The subject of the pupils’ artworks included matters related to the environment, recycling and climate change, as prominent issues featured in the creation of a sustainable future for our next generations.

The young artists who created the four winning entries received prizes during an award ceremony held last week at Lophitis Career Centre, Limassol.

Mr. Grant Johnson, Property General Manager of City of Dreams Mediterranean and Cyprus Casinos, said, “The aim of Melco Cyprus’ art competition is to raise environmental awareness among youths and their families, and we are happy to be here today with contestants from Limassol’s primary schools. It has been encouraging to see the kids’ warm responses when offered with the opportunity to express their thoughts and concerns about the future, especially on such key environmental issues which impact us all. Melco Cyprus is dedicated to environmental protection and we remain committed to the development of programmes and actions to help boost sustainability and environmental awareness.”

Melco strives to be a key contributor and partner to the communities in which it operates. Environment and Youth are two strategic pillars of the Company’s multifaceted and award-winning Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. Melco’s ambitious sustainability goals – as laid out in the Group’s ‘RISE to Go Above & Beyond’ strategy – include, among others, initiatives and practices aimed at eliminating the impact of its resorts on the climate by 2030, taking a lead on circular economy approaches and developing a culture of responsible gaming.
