Beer sales decline for local market

Beer sales for the local market declined by an annual 38% in the period of January – February 2021 with exports soaring by 84% compared with the same period of last year.

According to data published by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on Tuesday, total beer deliveries for January – February amounted to 2.09 million litres, compared with 3.39 million in the respective period of last year, reflecting the sharp reduction in tourist arrivals in Cyprus due to travel restrictions and lockdown measures imposed as part of the efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Deliveries for the local market for January – February declined by an annal 42% to just to 1.94 million litres compared with 3.31 million in the respective period of last year.

Contrary to the local market, beer exports spiked by an annual 86% reaching 157,213 litres compared with 84,571 litres in the respective period of last year.
