The total value of imports and exports for May 2004 reached £194.0 million and £58.8 million respectively. According to a CYSTAT announcement released on Friday, the value of imports from EU member states stood at £147.3 million, while the value of exports to EU countries amounted to £46.1 million. Imports and exports with third countries reached £47.5 million and £12.7 million respectively. The percentage of the intercommunity trading stood at 75.6% for imports and 78.4% for exports.

For January – June 2004, Cyprus imported goods of £1,089,590 compared to £935,842 in the corresponding period of 2003. The value of exports in the same period amounted to £216,220 against £199.770 in the corresponding period of 2003.

Cyprus exports in May were mostly absorbed by the United Kingdom (£21.2 million), while Greek imports to Cyprus ranked first, with value of £36.4 million.
