Imports and exports drop in May

Total imports and exports in Cyprus record a decrease in May 2019 compared to May 2018.

In particular, on the basis of preliminary estimates of the Statistical Service of Cyprus for the foreign trade of Cyprus in May 2019, total imports were €695,9 mn compared to €839,9 mn in May 2018. Imports from other EU Member States in May 2019 were €460,0 mn compared to €530,6 mn in May 2018. Imports from Third Countries in May 2019 were €235,8 mn compared to €309,3 mn in May 2018.

Total exports in May 2019 were €254,3 mn while they were  €461,1 mn in May 2018. Exports to other EU Member States in May 2019 were €112,9 mn compared to €108,8 mn in May 2018 and  exports to Third Countries in May 2019 were €141,4 mn compared to €352,3 mn in May 2018.

Total imports in May 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €61,0 mn compared to €189,7 mn in May 2018. Total exports in May 2019 include the transfer of economic ownership of mobile transport equipment (vessels), with total value of €27,9 mn compared to €177,5 mn in May 2018.
