Retail trade records significant increase

Retail trade in Cyprus recorded a significant increase in the first half of the year and also in June, figures released by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on Thursday showed.

On the basis of provisional estimates, the Turnover Volume Index of Retail Trade for June 2017 increased by 6.4% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 100.8 units (base 2010=100), Cystat announced.

For the period January-June 2017, the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period of 2016, it said.

On the basis of provisional estimates, the Turnover Value Index of Retail Trade for the sixth month of 2017 increased by 5.1% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and reached 98.1 units (base 2010=100).

In the first six months of the year the index is estimated to have recorded an increase of 5.1% compared to the same period last year.
