Trade deficit down annually by 21.5%

Trade deficit recorded a significant annual drop of 21.5% in the first two months of this year compared with the first to months of 2018, data released by the Cyprus Statistical Service show.
 
In particular, according to the data total imports in January - February 2019 amounted to €1,370.4 mn compared to €1,233.9 mn in January - February 2018.
 
Total exports, which include total exports to third countries and to EU member states, in January - February 2019 were €712.4 mn compared to €395.9 mn in January - February 2018.
 
The trade deficit was €658 mn in January - February 2019 compared to €838 mn in the corresponding month of 2018.
 
Total exports of domestically produced goods, excluding stores and provisions, in January - February 2019 were €161.0 mn compared to €204.4 mn in January - February 2018.
 
At the same time, total domestic exports of industrial products in January - February 2019 were €141.8 mn compared to €183.6 mn in January - February 2018.
 
Total domestic exports of agricultural products in January - February 2019 fell to €16.4 mn compared to €18.4 mn in January - February 2018.
